Bowtech Virtue Review (2026) – Performance vs Comfort Mode with Real Chronograph Data

The 2026 Bowtech Virtue is built to deliver speed without sacrificing shootability. With dual performance modes and a balanced hunting platform, the Virtue aims to appeal to both aggressive speed shooters and hunters who prioritize comfort and control. On top of that, it is extremely lightweight coming in at 3.7 lbs. The Virtue has ALL of Bowtech’s latest technology built into it. You get every bit of technology from their top of the line competition target bows built in to a bow that is in the sweet spot specs-wise for an all around great performing and forgiving hunting bow. Features of the Bowtech Virtue

Beyond speed and shootability, the Virtue carries forward several of Bowtech’s core technologies that focus on balance, tunability, and efficiency.

CenterMass Sight System

Bowtech’s CenterMass Sight System moves the sight mounting location closer to the centerline of the riser. By pulling weight inward rather than hanging it off the side, the bow feels more balanced at full draw.

In practical terms, this reduces side torque and helps the bow sit more naturally in the hand. For hunters running heavier sights or additional accessories, this system noticeably improves stability.

Integrate Mounting System

The Integrate Mounting System provides a dovetail-style rest attachment point built directly into the riser. This eliminates the need for traditional berger hole mounting brackets that stick out from the side of the bow.

The result is a tighter profile, reduced lateral weight shift, and cleaner overall setup. It keeps your arrow rest centered and streamlined — especially useful when building a compact hunting rig.

TimeLock Technology

TimeLock is Bowtech’s system that allows cam timing adjustments without pressing the bow.

This is a major convenience feature. It simplifies fine tuning and lets you make quick adjustments in the field or shop without additional equipment. For serious archers who understand timing and cam synchronization, this makes micro-adjustments far more accessible.

DeadLock Cam System

The DeadLock system allows left and right cam adjustments without shimming or removing the cam.

Instead of disassembling the bow to correct arrow flight, you can micro-adjust cam position laterally to achieve perfect broadhead and field point alignment.

For tuners, this is one of the most valuable features on the Virtue. It drastically reduces tuning time and increases precision.

GripLock System

GripLock allows shooters to adjust grip angle to better match their shooting style.

A slight grip angle change can influence natural wrist position and torque tendencies. Having adjustability here allows shooters to fine-tune comfort and consistency without aftermarket grips.

It’s a subtle but meaningful feature for those dialing in form.

AeroMag Magnesium Riser with Titanium Hardware

The AeroMag magnesium riser reduces weight while maintaining structural rigidity.

Magnesium allows for strength without excessive mass, giving the Virtue a responsive feel without being front-heavy. Paired with titanium hardware, Bowtech keeps overall weight down while maintaining durability and corrosion resistance.

This material combination contributes to the bow’s balanced feel and efficiency through the shot.

Speed Test

I put the Virtue on the chronograph in both settings and shot it with both a lightweight test arrow and a realistic hunting setup.

Here’s what I found.

Flip Disc Technology

This is my favorite feature of all the Bowtech bows. With the comfort side of the mod out, you get a nice butter smooth draw that still delivers great speeds. If you are in the need for more speed, switch to the performance side which will store more energy into the limbs with a more demanding draw (rides peak weight longer). The trade off for the more demanding draw is impressive speeds. If you have the muscles built for it, opt for it! Watch those pin gaps tighten up big time. Tight pins mean better accuracy when your yardage guestimation is off.

Test Setup

  • Draw Length: 30 inches

  • Draw Weight: 70 lbs

  • Arrow 1: 350 grains

  • Arrow 2: 383 grains (hunting setup)

  • Chronograph verified

Performance Setting (350 grains)

bowtech virtue speed

Comfort Setting (350 grains)
→ 328 FPS

383 Grain Hunting Arrow
→ 315 FPS

These are real-world numbers from a true 30-inch draw. The 9 FPS difference between Performance and Comfort modes is noticeable on paper, but the bigger story is how each setting feels at full draw and through the shot.

Performance vs Comfort Mode

Performance Mode

This is where the Virtue flexes. At 337 FPS with a 350 grain arrow, it’s delivering legitimate speed without feeling harsh. The draw cycle ramps up with purpose and the letoff valley is more aggressive. If you like a bow that holds tight and fires with authority, this setting will suit you.

It feels efficient and tuned for maximum output.

Comfort Mode

Switching to Comfort mode softens the front end of the draw cycle and slightly relaxes the holding feel. The 9 FPS drop to 328 FPS is minimal considering the improvement in draw smoothness.

For whitetail hunters who spend extended time at full draw or want a more forgiving feel, Comfort mode makes a strong case. The bow remains fast, but easier to manage.

Hunting Arrow Performance

With a 383 grain hunting arrow, the Virtue still pushed 315 FPS.

That’s impressive.

At that speed and weight, you’re firmly in the performance window for whitetail and more than capable for western big game setups. It’s a practical real-world hunting number — not a spec sheet fantasy.

Draw Cycle & Shot Reaction

The Virtue has a balanced feel through the shot. It settles quickly after release and doesn’t produce excessive jump or vibration. The back wall is solid and confidence inspiring.

In Performance mode, it feels tight and efficient.
In Comfort mode, it feels controlled and steady.

Neither setting feels unstable.

Who Is the Bowtech Virtue For?

The Virtue is ideal for:

  • Hunters wanting adjustable personality in one bow

  • Shooters who like speed but don’t want a punishing draw

  • Archers running mid-weight hunting arrows

  • Those who value tuning flexibility

If you want one platform that can shift between aggressive and forgiving, the Virtue delivers that versatility.

Final Thoughts

The Bowtech Virtue isn’t just fast — it’s adaptable.

337 FPS at 30 inches is legitimate performance.
315 FPS with a realistic hunting arrow is real-world deadly.

The ability to toggle between Performance and Comfort modes without sacrificing major speed makes this bow versatile in a way many single-profile cams are not.

If you want speed with options, the Virtue deserves serious consideration.
