Christmas is closing in on us and a lot of us haven’t even started our shopping yet(I’m guilty). If you find yourself buying Christmas gifts for deer hunters this holiday season, it’s important to know what to buy and what not to buy so gifts don’t end up being returned.
What not to buy a deer hunter for Christmas
Here is a list of things not to buy for your deer hunter.
- broadheads
- arrows
- a bow
- any equipment suggested by an archery shop or department worker
What is my reasoning behind this?
Most of the things on the list, without a doubt, come down to personal preference. Bowhunters can be very picky about their equipment; I know I am. I absolutely have to be the one (not my wife) picking out my bow, my arrows, my broadheads, etc.
Instead of critical equipment, lets look at a couple of safe buys that any hunter would be glad to have.
Ideal Christmas gifts for deer hunters
Price $25 – 1000 Lumens LED Flashlight by Defiant
A good flashlight is a must have for any deerhunter. My brother and I would not have found his buck last year if we didn’t have this exact flashlight featured right here. This flashlight is like a spotlight. In my pack, I have some short range flashlights and then this guy. It does have an incredibly long run time so overall it performs well and lasts. An excellent product at a cheap price that would be an important part of any deer hunter’s field dressing kit.
Price $169 – Milwaukee M12 Cordless Lithium-Ion Realtree Max-1 Camo Heated Hoodie Kit
One item that would be awesome to have is the Milwaukee heated hoodie kit. This kit comes with a heated hoodie, battery pack, and a charger which offers the user 6 hours of continuous heat while in the field. The hoodie can be used as a base layer (inside a coat) when the temperature drops, so its practically good for all deer season. There are other makes and models of heated jackets and hoodies so by all means, do a little searching!
Price $299 – Milwaukee M12™ Cordless Realtree Xtra® Camo 3-in-1 Heated Jacket Kit
Another item that I would love to get is the heated Jacket by Milwaukee tools. This 3 in 1 jacket system features a heated vest, outer shell, and zippable hood. The jacket “kit” includes a 12 volt lithium battery and charger which will provide the user with 6 hours of continuous heat. During cold days in the tree stand, this jacket would be nice to have!
Well, there are a couple ideas in different price ranges for ya. If you don’t think they will do for your deer hunter, you can always go the safest route and buy him or her a gift certificate to Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops, or Gander Mountain. Good luck!
